NFTs & Badge FAQs

Your go-to guide for understanding Giga-Mint’s NFTs and badges.

What Is an NFT?

An NFT (Non-Fungible Token) is a unique digital item stored on a blockchain. It proves ownership of a digital file—like a photo, video, or audio clip—and is secured on the blockchain to prevent duplication or forgery.

An NFT is a unique, blockchain-verified asset proving ownership and authenticity, while a digital photo is just a replicable image file. NFTs can have smart contracts, track ownership history, and enable resale, whereas a digital photo can be copied infinitely without built-in proof of ownership.

Traditionally, digital files are stored and controlled by companies that grant you access through a username and password. If that service changes or shuts down, you can lose access. NFTs live on a decentralized blockchain, meaning no single company controls them—and your wallet is your direct key to ownership.

A digital asset is any file you create or collect—like photos, videos, music, or art—that lives in a digital format.

You can upload:
Images: JPG, PNG, GIF, TIFF, SVG
Audio: MP3, WAV, FLAC, AAC
Videos: MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV

Creating an NFT—also known as minting—is the process of turning a digital file into a one-of-a-kind item on the blockchain. It becomes a permanent, ownable collectible, viewable through your computer browser or wallet.

A blockchain is a decentralized, digital ledger that securely records transactions across multiple computers. It ensures transparency, security, and immutability, making it ideal for verifying NFT ownership.

Think of it like a public record book with many lines—each new line is added for everyone to see, and once it’s written, it can’t be erased or changed. While the record is visible, it doesn’t reveal your personal identity—only the digital addresses involved.

Solana is a fast, affordable blockchain that processes NFT transactions quickly and with low fees. This makes it an excellent choice for building and growing NFT collections.

While not all benefits may apply to every user, NFTs can offer:

Digital Ownership & Authenticity – Verifiable proof of ownership, preventing forgery.

Permanence & Security – Blockchain ensures long-term preservation of your asset.

Building a Legacy – Create lasting digital collections to pass down.

Personalization & Creativity – Customize badges, art, and collectibles.

Community & Engagement – Connect with others and gamify achievements.

Financial & Utility Potential – Potential for exclusive access, memberships, or integrations.

A wallet is what allows you to store and access your NFTs—it’s like a secure digital backpack. It holds your badge collection and makes it possible for you to view, transfer, or manage your NFTs whenever you want.
We recommend using the Solflare wallet. Start with our Wallet Setup Guide to create your wallet. While other Solana-compatible wallets can hold Giga-Mint badges, they may not always display them correctly. We’ve tested with Solflare and know it works seamlessly with our NFTs and badges.
Any wallet that supports the Solana blockchain works. We suggest Solflare and provide setup guides to help you get started.
After setting up your wallet, you’ll need your wallet address so we can deliver your NFTs. Follow our Find Your Wallet Address Guide for step-by-step instructions.

Solflare is a non-custodial wallet, meaning you hold the keys. For children, you can log them into either the mobile app or the browser extension so they can scroll through the Collectibles section of the wallet.

Yes! As long as you have wallet access, you can view your collection on any device that supports the browser extension or can install the mobile app.

Badges are fun, affordable NFTs created by Giga-Mint to highlight milestones and achievements. We offer badges in multiple categories designed to reward, recognize, and motivate in areas that are fun and promote learning.

Yes. Whether you’re creating a custom NFT or purchasing a badge, we provide both a Title and Description field for you to enter whatever you like. While there is a character limit, it’s generous enough for a thoughtful title and description that help personalize the moment and make your NFT more meaningful.

There’s no limit—you can mint as many badges or NFTs as you like. Each mint creates a separate NFT and has its own cost.

If you plan to mint more than 10 custom NFTs at once, we recommend using our Direct Order process. Simply reach out through our contact form to discuss bulk orders, special pricing, and any custom details you’d like to include.

Yes! You’re welcome to recommend new badge themes or milestone ideas using our contact form. If your idea is selected, our internal team will review it, and our digital artist will create the final badge image. Just keep in mind that you’re suggesting the concept—we’ll handle the artwork.

Absolutely! Giga-Mint’s simplified NFT process makes it easy to create NFTs for any occasion. If you want to gift an NFT, you’ll need the recipient’s wallet address.

It’s much easier to provide their wallet address at the time of purchase rather than having the NFT sent to your wallet and then transferring it. Why? Because if you do the transfer yourself, you’ll need to have some SOL (Solana cryptocurrency) in your wallet to cover the network transfer fee.

Nope! You pay in regular USD. We handle the blockchain and minting for you—no crypto required.

We focus on memories, not marketplaces. No speculation or resale—just meaningful keepsakes. We simplify the process, provide wallet guides, mint only on Solana, and allow USD payments.

Orders are typically delivered to your wallet within 48 hours, and often on the same day. We’ll contact you at the email address you provided once your NFT or badge is ready to view in your wallet.

If you catch it quickly, we can help fix it! Reach out to us right away via the contact form.

“Unverified” is your wallet’s way of saying, “Let’s take an extra pause on this newly delivered item.” It helps protect against spam while still letting you view the NFT. You’re in control—your wallet lets you decide when to mark it as verified.

Quick Fix (Solflare):
– Open Solflare (browser extension or mobile app).
– Go to Collectibles and open the NFT marked Unverified.
– Tap the NFT image again to bring up the burn screen (do not burn).
– In the top-right, tap ⋯ and choose Mark as Verified.
– Confirm when prompted. Your NFT will now display normally in Collectibles.

Detailed Steps (Solflare):
– Open Solflare (browser extension or mobile app).
– Go to Collectibles and locate the NFT labeled Unverified.
– Tap/click the NFT to open its detail screen showing the image.
– Verify the item looks as expected.
– Tap/click the image again to open the burn screen.
– Burning permanently deletes the NFT from your wallet and cannot be undone.
– Learn more: How to burn an NFT.
– In the top-right, select ⋯ (three dots).
– Choose Mark as Verified.
– You’ll see a brief confirmation. Done.

To delete an NFT—known as “burning” on the blockchain—you’ll need to take a few quick steps using your wallet.
In Solflare, follow these steps:

  1. Open your wallet and go to the Collectibles section.
  2. Find the NFT you want to remove and mark it as unverified—this will unlock more options.
  3. Once marked, you’ll see the option to Burn the NFT.
  4. Confirm the action to delete it permanently.

⚠️ Burning is irreversible.

Not quite. Transferring an NFT on the Solana network requires a small amount of SOL (the network’s native token) to cover the transaction fee. While the cost is usually just a few cents, your wallet must have some SOL in it. That’s why we recommend entering the recipient’s wallet address at checkout if you’re giving a badge as a gift.

Once your NFT is safely in your wallet, you can hold it forever at no cost. But if you decide to take certain actions with it — like transferring it to another wallet or burning it — the Solana blockchain requires a small network fee (often just fractions of a cent).

Good news:
• Viewing your NFT, sharing the link, or showing it off costs nothing.
• Fees only apply if you actively move or remove the NFT from your wallet.
• These fees are paid in SOL (Solana’s currency), so you may need to “fund” your wallet if you want to make those changes.

Why is this?
The Solana network charges these tiny fees to keep the blockchain secure and prevent spam. Giga-Mint doesn’t keep these fees — they go directly to the network validators.

Yes. Blockchain technology keeps them secure, unchangeable, and long-lasting. Because the blockchain is decentralized, there’s no single point of failure—your NFTs aren’t stored on one company’s server that could be hacked or shut down.

Once your memory is minted, it’s permanently recorded on the blockchain, making it resistant to tampering or accidental loss. Your wallet serves as your secure key to access them, ensuring only you control when and how they’re shared.

No. Giga-Mint is only the creator of your NFT or badge. Once we mint it and transfer it to your wallet, it becomes fully yours. Because it lives on the blockchain—not on our servers—it will remain accessible in your wallet regardless of our operational status.

Your ownership is independent of Giga-Mint, and as long as you maintain access to your wallet, you will always have access to your NFT.

Our Contact Form is our preferred method of communication. We offer a few different categories to help guide your request, but no matter which one you choose, our team will see it, review it, and do our best to help you out quickly.

We want you to be happy with your purchase. If the NFT you received isn’t what you expected, we’ll work with you to remove it from your wallet and issue a full refund. Just contact us through the support form, and we’ll take care of the rest.
You’ll find a dedicated Gig section in our badge shop, and we’re just getting started. Gig shows up in small ways across many badge designs—sometimes it’s a tentacle, sometimes a wink. Keep an eye out for Special Edition drops, where Gig will take center stage in limited-edition releases.
